OVER 18? Yes!
CHARACTERS IN-GAME: Riou Mason Busujima
â–¶ CHARACTER
NAME: Shintarou Midorima
CANON: Kuroko’s Basketball
CANON POINT: Just before Last Game (Second year, but before his haircut.)
AGE: 17, almost 18 (Last Game takes place after Winter Cup the year following the series and Midorima is a Tanabata baby)
BACKGROUND: Wiki
PERSONALITY:
Midorima is extremely confident, competitive, and hates losing. His attitude isn't arrogance either, as he's extremely skilled at basketball, especially when it comes to his field of expertise: 3-pointers that go higher than a normal person would be able to control the arc of. Midorima practices extremely hard to keep his “Miracle” status, but that isn't all he credits to his accuracy.
A very superstitious man, Midorima listens to the Oha Asa horoscopes every single day and constantly carries around Cancer’s daily lucky item is—no matter how ridiculous. He can show a playful side, playing around with lucky items or making musical jokes while playing piano. He has numerous rituals he is near-obsessive about. Between doing everything he can in practice and everything he can to improve his fortune, he claims this is why he "Never misses a shot."
Midorima is a (Takao-declared) "tsundere.” He'll pretend not to recognize someone that he's been watching carefully because of their skill or tell a respected friend that there's no way he could get along with him. He’ll text “Die” as a response to “Good luck” from certain friends. He will try to help out other people while being rude to try to hide it or tell people he doesn’t want to come somewhere, only to show up anyway wearing sunglasses. If caught, he'll insist it's a coincidence regardless of how obvious it is.
Midorima’s selfish behavior resulted in a compromise of a daily three-count of “willful requests.” If he makes his shots for Shutoku (he does), he can do whatever he wants no matter who it pisses off on the team. Despite his perfect record, he’s afraid enough of breaking this rule that he won’t play if his horoscope says his luck isn’t good unless it’s an important match and he has his lucky item. Though there is no evidence of his horoscope causing him to miss a shot, it has been shown to put him in dangerous situations, leading some to the conclusion that his luck is real for him. Despite the selfishness, he’s been shown on multiple occasions to have a strong and good heart- including in Teiko when all other members of the Generation of Miracles had essentially stopped showing up to practice. He was the only other member of the Teiko starters besides Kuroko who refused to participate in disrespectful games against their opponents. He and Kuroko were also the only two Teiko members to stand up to Akashi, too.
Midorima’s precision and focus on three-pointers is because he believes they're better because they're worth more points and can act as buzzer beaters. Another reason for this accuracy, he claims, is his nail care techniques which include rigorous nail-filing and bandaging his fingers outside games to protect his nails.
Midorima is a quiet type, but it'd be wrong to call him reserved all the time. He’s easily annoyed with a short fuse at times. He’s more physical with people he likes (he off-screen tackles Takao more than once) and he may outright refuse to cooperate with those he dislikes (Kagami). He also can be something of a nag if he feels he needs to take care of someone (Aomine, Murasakibara). If a person is in-between, he'll be more reserved with them. There's a distinctive difference in tone when dealing with someone he gets along with or someone that he wants to smack upside the head.
He's good at assessment and development insight, which shows in his ability to discern others' strengths, weaknesses, how their moves work, and ways to improve. He also notices changes in behaviors of others, whether he chooses to react to them or not. He notes this with Kise after Shutoku and Kaijo’s loss to Seirin, noticed Kuroko’s attitude changes after Teiko-Kamata, and was the first person to notice Akashi’s second personality. Despite this, he isn’t good with romance and can be oblivious to it, even in others.
He has a lot of personal pride; it takes losing a game against Seirin to get him to admit his own weakness (teamwork). After, he spends more time with his team and overcomes this, even telling Mibuchi that not a single member of his team is a "hindrance." The Rakuzan-Shutoku game demonstrates this development significantly when Midorima nearly loses hope after Akashi brings him to his knees during the game and is revived by his teammate's support, his determination to win renewed. This was the first time onscreen that Midorima truly broke away from Akashi and the Teiko mindset and accepted Shutoku as the ones that he wants to play with. This trust is further illustrated when Midorima makes the “Sky Direct 3P Shot” with Takao, in which he takes his shooting form before receiving the ball, meaning he’s completely reliant on Takao’s pass to make the shot. Without being able to trust Takao, it would be impossible because Midorima can't control the fate of the ball completely, circumstances he would’ve once refused.
There are traits he values more than others that will earn his hard-to-earn respect: determination, willpower, doing everything in your power, and grit. The only person Midorima shows respect for no matter what is Akashi. They played shogi during breaks and spent time together as Captain and Vice at Teiko. He expresses that Akashi is someone he trusts as much as Takao and performs the Sky Direct with him in Last Game, even after Akashi’s other self told Midorima that he wanted to be enemies. Yet despite Akashi’s “always right” attitude, Midorima does not hesitate to speak his mind with him but is shown to be much less irritable with him.
He hates cats, natto, he can’t cook, and he loves red beans (especially soup). He’s possibly legally blind without his glasses. He plays piano, likes older girls, and Takao says he’s good at all types of “finger play.” (Yes, that’s a real quote.) This odd man is ultimately a good person, even if he won’t admit it.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
He doesn’t have any special powers. In fact, he’s probably the most normal of the Generation of Miracles. His ability to not miss is shown to be through endless practice, rather than “animal instincts” or an ability to see muscle movement or the future or turn invisible or whathaveyou. Perhaps his strongest ability is his ability to practice the same thing over and over again.
INVENTORY:
His Shutoku school bag
His pencil pouch, containing pencils and his special Yujima Tenshin rolling pencil (it’s a normal pencil, but Midorima made it out of wood from a shrine so it is considered lucky)
His Shutoku basketball uniform.
Tanuki Statue
Kerosuke
A case of red bean soup. They’re his favorite, he even won a bunch at one point and it actually made him smile, look at this..
MOONBLESSING: Cordis
Apartment Info
Midorima purchased a small, townhouse-style apartment shoved between two other buildings with no space between. The front looks the same as the rest, a building front with a regular door. There is a Tanuki Statue seated beside the door stoop. Upon entry, Midorima's apartment opens up to a small zen garden and genkan area.

The two rooms facing the genkan and garden are a tea room to the right of the garden...

And the kitchen/dining room:

Out of the way in the corner of the room are a food and water dish over a feeding mat to prevent messes.
The last room on the first floor is the bathroom. It has a small half-bath adjacent to a large Japanese-style bath:

The second floor contains the bedroom and a soundproofed study. The bedroom is fairly small with an upper-area bed:

The room contains a closet behind a sliding door. Instead of the additional mattress, the floor-area bed is replaced with a dog bed and a large number of stuffed animals, as well as a dog outfit chest for Merlin, his very round moon dog. This is an ideal area for sleeping and studying, which is good because the study is intentionally soundproofed and contains his grand piano, gifted to him by Eichi Tenshouin. In the following image, the piano is in the corner not shown by the sliding door. The window view is, obviously, not Mt. Fuji but the park behind his building.

There is a second bedroom on the second floor, but it is used as storage for lucky items and not intended to be used for guests. The room is simply filled with shelves and items.
